Claire is born!
Baby Claire was born on Saint Patrick's Day in the early morning hours! The previous evening, Saturday, Brooke was feeling a bit anxious, as the hospital wanted to start her labor on Sunday. Of course she really wanted the baby to come when she was ready. Around 9 p.m. I gave Brooke a blessing, and shortly after, labor began. After a few hours we called our friend Mneme, who came and stayed the night with the kids while Brooke and I went to the hospital. After a few more hours of labor, and 85 minutes of pushing, Baby Claire arrived. It was a bit nerve-wracking for us, as Claire was on her side most of the labor. Then when her head appeared, her left hand came with it. Brooke stopped pushing and the doctor worked out Claire's left arm. Then the rest of her came. The NICU nurses had come as a precaution, but within a minute of Claire's birth, they declared everything okay, and left. Claire was born at 4:25 a.m. 20 inches long, and 7 lbs 15 oz.
